I wanted to wait until the news got out on the website, but I found out last Monday that I won the $5000 scholarship and a trip to Boston to the Reuben Awards!! I’m really, REALLY excited to go to Boston, since the awards have the best cartoonists around the world, including Glen Klene (Tangled, The Little Mermaid), Chris Sanders (How to Train Your Dragon, Lilo and Stitch), and Jared Lee (The Black Lagoon series) among many, many others.
I’m really, truly humbled to receive the award. I know that there were a lot more better qualified artists out there other than me, but I am truly appreciative to be the first non-art major to get it! Gah, memorial weekend canNOT come fast enough!
(Also, a big thank you to michichen; without her post on this scholarship, I never would have known about it. <3)

Okay, no more freaking out, time to go back and study for finals.
