I just discovered that my favorite webcomic from middle/high school updated after years of inactivity! This story was what really got me into making my own comic. I still really adore the pacing, wonderful inking, and the story (no DUH). I’m so glad to read it again, I hope it continues!

Plot synopsis:

One day, the Moon up and disappeared; where it went, or why, none can say. Without the Moon’s light to keep them in check at night, monsters, crawling horrors, and other creatures of the dark run rampant throughout the land. But Princess November has much more pressing matters to worry about: she hasn’t had a decent sleep in ages.

No really, the film looks beautiful, but come on now, Pixar! That dead horse was good and beaten by the time Titanic came out, no need to dredge up anachronistic narrative tropes.

I don’t know much about the history behind corsets, but I do agree that it’s such a tired trope. I’m kind of annoyed that these stories about strong women always have to talk about rejecting femininity? Strong women don’t always have to be anti-women.

I’m still excited about the movie, nonetheless!

Hey everyone, I’ve decided to put my graphic novel about forests and middle school, Eighth Grade, online for free. I’ve been working on it for over three years now; it was on the strength of this comic that I got into the Atlantic Center for the Arts graphic novel intensive last year, studying under Craig Thompson. The art looks a little rough to me now (it gets better as it goes on, I promise) and it’s not perfect, but it’s still probably the best comic I’ve ever drawn. I’ve put up the entire first chapter for you to read, and for the next few months I’ll put up about ten new pages every week until I run out of material.
